The
31 December, 2015 coincidentally the last day of the year and eve of the New
Year went down history books in Nkwen as the day the first prince in the reign
of Fon Azehfor III arrived the royal home. The Prince arrived home from the
United States of America where her mother who happens to be the third Queen in
this reign spent the last few months of her pregnancy.
The
Prince and the mother entered the country via the Douala international airport
and were treated to a royal ride to the Kingdom by a Prince and Traditional
notable in the official automobile of the Paramount Fon of Nkwen.
Arriving
the Royal home that faithful Thursday, the Prince whose name we got as Prince
Azehfor Samuel Azuneshieh was received
by a good number of personalities amongst them Muma Azehfor Second assistant to
the Fon, Justice Ngu Ngwa Chairman of the Nkwen traditional Council, Quarter Heads,
Princes and Princesses, Queen mothers and many others.
According
to many who spoke to this reporter, the new Prince is rightfully named with the
name of the immediate past Fon because of the close resemblance. Someone even
hinted that when the current Fon saw his son; the Prince he said with joy “that
my father is back.” By this statement the Fon equally confirms that the new
prince resembles the late Fon.
Fon
Azehfor III could be seen beaming with smiles as he looked at his son. The joy
in him was outwardly expressed with the offering wine to those who brought his
son home safely. Traditional incantations were equally made by the Paramount
ruler to invoke the blessings of his forefathers on the new Prince. When we
quizzed and elder whether the new prince was the heir apparent to the throne? He
replied saying that the decision was that of the Fon. He however made
insinuations that gave the impression that the first Prince to the reign in the
royal home stands a good chance of being the heir apparent. This will however
depend on his character which will be judged by his father.
The
Prince entered the Royal home at the time many were showing up to wish the Fon
and the Royal home a happy new year 2016. According to one of the elders this
was a sign of good tidings for the Fondom in 2016. He joked saying “the Prince
came with his food because since he entered here things have only been entering
this Palace.” Drinking and eating was capital and on the sidelines, the mother
of the Prince was seen in a convivial mode with other queens and queen
mothers.
