Bishop George Nkuo has described the ordination of Ignatius Nshing Tanjua,scheduled for February 6th in Njinikom, as an opportunity for the Roman Catholic church in Njinikom to thank God for the gift of vocations and to celebrate this gift which has come from a missionary who hails from Njinikom. A follower of the Mill Hill Missionaries, son of the soil, Ignatius Nshing Tanjua will be receiving the sacrament of holy orders at the st Anthony’s parish main mission in Njinikom from the lone kom Bishop who hails from Njinikom, Bishop George Nkuo, where he is expected to have herd the call of God to serve in his vine yard. Reports from Njinikom say, preparations have been heightened materially and spiritually with special dedicated mass intensions as well as financial contributions that have been open by the parish council to ensure a hitch free ordination come February 6th.The ordination of Ignatius Nshing Tanjua, is the second in the centenary parish of Njinikom, following that of the first ever Mill Hill priest to be ordained in Njinikom in the name of Anthony Ndang who hails from Atukoni quarter same with Ignatius who is the second.
WHO GETS THE CREDIT?
Many are those who will be quick to identify with the calm, gentle and humble Rev Ignatius Nshing who has passed through thick and thin to be programed for ordination come feb 6th.It is largely thanks to the works of the Mill Hill missionaries that played a key role in the life of Ignatius Nshing like Rev James Nilian and one man, many a Njinikom man could have petition the Arch Bishop when his transfer was read in church years back. It is Brother Huubs waters who’s stay in the parish impacted the lives of many just like Ignatius, this reporter included, spiritually .He created a spirit of fraternity in the core of the mass servers that saw its growth in numbers threatened even that of the cathedral.it was from this group that , Rev Anthony Ndang, Rev Ignatius Nshing, Rev Anthony Chiati (Deacon),Kang Linus, Fumbui Ferdinand, Djam Leonard, Ndi Derick and Chibeh Marcelineus Chia passed as followers of St Stephen, Acolytes of st Stephen, aspirates and today priest, deacons and seminarians at home and abroad in formation centres.it also thanks to the supporting Christian folk in Njinikom whose prayers made it possible and the Tanjuas family especially Nawain Rita Fuo who come February 6th shall be a proud mum of a Mill Hill priest.
WHO IS IGNATIUS NSHING TANGJUA?
Ignatius
Nshing was born on 14 May 1984 at Njinikom. From 1992-1999, Ignatius attended
St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School Njinikom where he obtained his elementary
education. He would seek and gain admission at Jua Memorial College, Njinikom
where he acquired the GCE Ordinary Level in 2004 with distinction. That same
year he would move on to be admitted at the Government Bilingual High School
Fundong, for the high School Studies. He obtained the GCE Advanced Level in
2006.
Having completed secondary and high school, a prerequisite for all walks of life, Ignatius sorght and was given admission into St. Joseph’s Missionary Society, famously known as the Mill Hill Missionaries, in September 2006. In 2007, he joined St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary where he studied Philosophy and graduated in 2010 with a BA in Philosophy. The same year, he moved to Nairobi-Kenya, where he studied Theology for two years at the Tangaza College, Catholic University of Eastern Africa. He would move to Uganda in 2012 for mission and pastoral experience for two years. In 2014, he returned to Nairobi-Kenya to finish his theological studies earning a BA in Sacred Theology.
He was ordained deacon in Nairobi-Kenya by Bishop Maurice Crowley, of the Diocese of Kitale. Back in the same church where it all began, come February 6th, Ignatius is being ordained by His Lordship, George Nkuo the Bishop of Kumbo Diocese in the presence of the Christian laity that supported his formation in prayers..
