The news year opened with Reactons on the End of year Speech by the President of the republic Paul Biya: reacting to the speech from bamenda Felix Teche Nyamusa, SDF 2018 Presidential hopeful {Pending Primaries} stated that Contrary to Biya, Cameroon has no democratic institutions. Felix wrote quotes
In the December 31st 2014 end of year and New Year speech, President Paul Biya as often got into self deceit by claiming Cameroon has democratic institutions!
Felix Teche Nyamusa
According to Biya, having built democratic institutions, Cameroon should now move into other development aspects like tackling second generation projects, industrialization …. Felix said  His likes and himself ( Biya ) should come out of selves treachery and realize that Cameroon will explode anytime from now because of lack of democracy, good governance : ELECAM by all stretch of imagination is not a democratic institution - it is created by Biya “ the natural presidential candidate” for CPDM, yet throughout his over three decades at Etoudi(Cameroon’s presidency) , Biya never won any genuine elections ! . ELECAM’s top personnel are CPDM militants (who brandish after-appointment into ELECAM resignation letters from CPDM - they directly and/or indirectly rig elections for CPDM. What passes today as Cameroon constitution is not a democratic document it is pro ruling party."
Bamenda III and City Councils sends off Deputy Mayor

Obituary
It was an outstanding show of Love for Late Bati Rose Lailam, 1st Deputy Mayor to the Bamenda III sub divisional Council Friday January 23, 2015 as thousands rallied at the Holy Family Catholic Medical Center Akum, then All Saints Parish Church Bayelle and her Ntamulung residence to accompany the late municipal authority to her final resting place.
Away from her immediate family and fellow SDF militants, The Bamenda III sub divisional Council and The Bamenda City Council answered present in grand style. These institutions did not only show up in official uniforms but with their administrative authorities and traditional dances as Northwest tradition demands for the burial of a true servant like Madam Bati Rose Lailam.

Education
11th of February is the day French Cameroon annex English Cameroon. This is what students who study History in the Francophone subsystem of Education in Cameroon are thought about the day now known as Youth Day in Cameroon.  According to Dr. Jude Fokwang, “February 11 is the date on which a plebiscite was held in the former British Cameroons, aimed at deciding its fate - gain independence by integrating with the Federal Republic of Nigeria or the already independent French Cameroon.”  He continues that “On February 11, 1961, the Southern British Cameroons opted to join French Cameroon while their counterparts in the North cast their votes in favour of joining the Nigerian Federation” the latter is the version many Anglophone Cameroonians and even historians subscribe to. According to the Cameroon’s Teachers Trade Union CATTU Teaching students in Anglophone schools the earlier version of this historic day is considered destructive;
Meeting in Bamenda February 4, 2015 to examine the state of the Union CATTU, observed that “about 80% of student-teachers” currently on the field on practice from the Teachers Training College Bambili are Francophones.  These students according to CATTU are “subjugated to do teaching practice in some secondary schools” in the Northwest Region in English in Anglophone schools. Considering their language of origin and educational background, CATTU submitted that “this action misleads learners and delays the progress of the classroom teacher.”

National Solidarity
The Northwest Region lead by its Governor early Saturday February 7, 2015 staged a solidarity walk in Bamenda in support of Cameroon soldiers and President Paul Biya in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the North of the country. Taking off from three different points of the city of Bamenda, thousands assembled on the city’s main commercial street-the commercial Avenue for a brief prayer session.
The march turned out to be a perfect show of political coexistence between the government and the most populous political party in the country– the Social Democratic Front - SDF. Just like the militants who showed up for the march was the party's national chair Ni John Fru Ndi.

Did Prof. Elizabeth Tamajong resign or she was dismissed from the SDF post of SG?
This question made rounds across the country as Professor Elizabeth Tamajong followed the footsteps of her predecessors February 14, 2015 to table her resignation from her function as Secretary General of the SDF during a National Executive Council meeting here in Bamenda. By her letter dated February 12, 2015, which calls for a couple of reforms in the party, one can say she resigned. Though she claims the party is very dear to her and has relentlessly and diligently served in all the positions she held, the out gone scribe calls for separation of power between party structures like NIC (National investiture Committee) NAC (National Advisory Council) NEC (National Executive Council). The Professor also says there is need for party subventions from the state to be used for the development of basic organs and that the function of the Secretary General be elective as was the case before her appointment on July 17, 2006. This sounds like a resignation but a close reading of another document which she made public titled “My Stewardship as SDF Secretary General and the reaction of some party officials gives the impression that she was long dismissed mindful of many functions which said were taken off from her.

In Sports
2015 2nd place winner of the Guiness Mt Cameroon Race of Hope in february announced the eventual creation of a Foundation in his home town – Nkambe Donga Mantung Division of the Northwest Region of Cameroon. Talking to hilltopvoices on arrival in Bamenda from Buea Southwest Region of the Country Wednesday February 18, 2015, Mbacha Eric said he has been participating in the race for 15years. To the athlete, he is not getting younger and so there is need to begin laying the foundation for the future.
While accusing the Country’s Sports Ministry for ignoring athletes like him on issues of social welfare, Mbacha said he will not want to let that neglect to kill athletics reasons why he wants to start the Mbacha Eric Foundation. According to the athlete, he has gotten to where he is thanks to the support he has received from his community and so he must give back to the community.

Community Development
Though Nkwen is parctically the first village with the Bamemda city council area to develop a community water scheme, water issues came under serious review in Bowen in 2015.
Like the palace, the Bamenda III Sub divisional Council with Nkwen as headquarters showed concerned about the water supply in the kingdom and the municipality as a whole.. Early in 2014 the Mayor of the Council Fongu Cletus Tanwie received equipment donated by a Germany outfit for the purification and distribution of water in the Sub divisional council area. This equipment had been in the Council premises for almost a year with the council expecting a team of engineers from Germany for the installation.
However early on Friday February 20, 2015,  councilors of the Bamenda III Sub divisional Council were in the palace to meet the Fon following the discovery of a traditional injunction placed on the envisaged site for the planting of the council water purification plant. According to a councilor we spoke to on phone on condition of anonymity, they needed to know who placed the injunction and for what reason.

Society
Four youngsters lost their lives early  Friday 27th February 2015 morning in an accident along Cow street in Bamenda. The youngsters died after the bike carrying them ran under a stationed trailer at about 3:30am. Witnesses say two died on the spot while two others died on their way to the hospital. The cause of the accident has not been established but many have been quick in Bamenda to attribute the accident to high speeding and the recklessness of bike riders. Others have equally been questioning the parking of the trailer on such a narrow area part of the road.
Amongst the four as gathered by hilltopvoices  three of them were from Mbelem mile 6 Nkwen.
