Developing Story IV: Bamenda City Mayor takes responsibility for issuing Building Permit on Marshy Land

The Bamenda City Mayor addressed as the Government Delegate says he and the Bamenda City Council offered Fokou Company a building permit to construct on the site in Mile four Nkwen currently being referred to by the Bamenda III Sub divisional council as Marshy land.

Ndumu Vincent Nji was speaking on a local radio station in Bamenda Tuesday morning in reaction to the protest lead by the National Chairman of Cameroon’s most populous opposition party The Social Democratic Front SDF on the non-respect of Land Tenure and State lands laws on the construction site. 
According to the Delegate, his technical services did all necessary studies based on the files submitted by their applicant here Fokou before offering him the building permit. He says he does not regret the action and is not prepared to withdraw the permit.

Mr Ndumu while wondering what took the SDF Chairman to the site stated that when he completed the plan for the City of Bamenda a project he cost at over 50million, he took to the Chairman for appraisal and all he could say was to ask that there should be farms every. “Can farms develop Bamenda?” he questioned

“Why is the Chairman getting into this matter and making it political? This man has proven beyond reasonable doubts that he has the technical ability to manage this place… however I am not prepared to go back to my decision” he said.
He acknowledged receiving a call from the services of the Senior Divisional Office for Mezam manned by Nguele Nguele Felix to attend a meeting in his office. “I will not attend such a meeting” Ndumu shouted.
