CAMCCUL holds AGM in own building for the first time in 47years

The 47th Ordinary General Meeting of the Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League CAMCCUL held in Bamenda Saturday 27th June, 2015 in the Commercial Avenue complex of the Network.

It is the first time since creation in 1968 that the leading Credit Union Network in Central Africa held its Annual General Meeting in a non rented structure. 

During the meeting, the Governor of the North West Region like the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council both represented, appreciated CAMCCUL for not only choosing Bamenda as headquarters but also for "erecting a magnificent edifice" on the commercial avenue of the Regional Capital. CAMCCUL's contribution to poverty alleviation in Cameroon also featured prominently in both speeches.

CAMCCUL's President Musa Shey Nfor used the meeting to pay tribute to late Nini Juliana Ikui account number 001 in 1963, Late Fr Barnicle for creating CAMCCUL in 1968, late Catherine Tumi and Mr Nzegge Joseph for the their various contributions to today's CAMCCUL.

Musa Shey appealed Government to tackle a new form of insecurity which he named RUMOUR HARRAM referring to the rumour that circulated in Bamenda that the New CAMCCUL building was collapsing. Acceleration of "the process of a special tax regime for Credit Unions and category One Micro finance institutions and putting in place an accelerated recovery procedure to check unscrupulous attitudes of those who borrow BIG from small Credit Unions and fight them big using big means in big courts" Musa appealed. 

Representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture and Rural Development, Finances and other partnes were also part of the AGM that so the blessing and dedication of the New building, presentation of 2014 reports and adoption of 2015 management accounts.

North West Cameroon: Remarkable Cultures I- The Nso People

They own, and with pride, use Lamnso (language of Nso) anywhere they are found.
