POST INVESTITURE SDF

POST INVESTITURE PERIOD WITHIN THE SDF
Like many other political parties, choosing candidates for upcoming elections is always the duty of a special committee. The investiture committee as it is called in most cases has been at the center of so many controversies as at times clearly qualified candidates are shaved for less qualified ones. In an effort to give democracy its true meaning the most populous opposition party the SDF is seemingly suffering the highest number of casualties as a result of the investiture. After being invested by the party, the candidate as usual continues the process of candidacy declaration with the submission of required documents at election Cameroon offices. Though the period between the closure of the investiture and the deadline for submission of documents is always very close, none invested candidates always use the shortest time possible to protest or appeal their rejection.
In the 23yrs history of Ni John’s party never has the quest for positions been so highly contested even by very close friends and supposed dedicated militants of the party like this 2013 with several reasons put forward.
While the people of Nkum in Bui Division protested the investment of a candidate who to them did not win the primaries, those of Nkwen protested a candidate who made it at the primaries but from the peoples judgment the said candidate could not represent the development interest of the Nkwen people reading from previous activities of this candidate.
For the national Chairman of the SDF Ni John Fru Ndi to have driven down to Fundong in a bid to resolve candidacy crisis speaks volumes. The particularity of this area is based on political history, the thwarting of people’s wishes, the desire to continuously whole on to power by whatever means, greed, misuse of power, lies telling, political manipulation, and so on.
As the present 8th legislature comes to an end seating Mps in Boyo are still representing Belo/Njinikom and Fundong/Bum. These too parliamentary constituencies have Belo and Fundong as the most populated areas with Njinikom and Bum as the smallest. If not for the above mentioned vices one will not imagine that a right thinking political party will choose candidates for parliament with none coming from the divisional head quarters which even prides its self with the highest population in the entire Division.
