Protests are breaking out in several cities across Cameroon following the official proclamation of the 2025 presidential election results by Constitutional Council this Monday 27 October 2025, which confirm President Paul Biya as winner with 53.66 percent of the votes.

Crowds are gathering in Douala, Yaoundé, Mbouda, and Ngaoundéré, as supporters of opposition candidate Issa Tchiroma Bakary take to the streets, alleging electoral irregularities. Security forces are deploying in large numbers to disperse demonstrators, with reports of tear gas and roadblocks in parts of Douala

In Yaoundé, heavily armed police are stationed around government buildings and major roundabouts. Witnesses say groups of protesters are blocking streets.

In the Far North Region, tension is particularly high in Garoua, where gunshots are being heard near the home of opposition leader Issa Tchiroma. A video circulating on social media shows him speaking with residents who claim that two people may have been killed during the shooting. Security forces are surrounding the area, and movement remains restricted.

The Constitutional Council earlier today declared Paul Biya of the CPDM winner with 53.66 percent, followed by Issa Tchiroma of the CNSF with 35.19 percent, Cabral Libii with 3.41 percent, and Bello Bouba Maigari with 2.45 percent.

The situation remains tense in several cities as security forces continue patrols and monitor public gatherings.
