A new interurban transport company, Epic Rides and Tours, is likely to begin operations in Bamenda, following the circulation of videos, photos, and voice notes online announcing the arrival of its buses in Cameroon.
Images trending on social media show the buses being offloaded from the Douala Seaport, with accompanying voice messages stating that they are destined for Bamenda. The agency is expected to operate along the Bamenda–Douala and Bamenda–Yaoundé corridors, two of the country’s busiest travel routes.
The vehicles, bearing the name Epic Rides and Tours, were later sighted at the Bonaberi bus station in Douala, parked alongside long-standing transport agencies such as Vatican Express, Moghamo, Jean Jeanot, Mondial Express, Guarantee Express, Amour Mezam, and Oasis Travel, which have continued to serve the Bamenda road despite the ongoing conflict in the region.
While there has been no official announcement from the company’s management, the arrival of Epic Rides and Tours has already generated significant public interest, with many hoping the new entrant will raise standards of service, safety, and punctuality in a sector often criticised for overcrowding, delays, and inconsistent pricing.
The introduction of another agency is also expected to intensify competition among existing operators, which could ultimately benefit commuters in terms of improved comfort and affordability.
As the city of Bamenda awaits further details on the official commencement of services, Epic Rides and Tours joins a growing list of agencies vying for a share of the North West Region’s vital but challenging transport sector.
