Senior Councilors of the Bamenda City Council meeting in session August 4, 2015 raised a worry over unpaid profits by authorities of Ayaba Hotel; a government hotel in Bamenda to the City Council.

According to the Senior Councilors during the construction of Ayaba Hotel in 1982 there was a certain FCFA 27million to be paid as building permit to the then Bamenda Urban Council BUC under the late Jomia Pefok. Following a municipal decision taken at the time the Senior Councilors say the BUC decided to contribute that amount as a share to Ayaba thus making them shareholders of the hotel.
As shareholders the councilors say the City council has a right to some of the profits made by the hotel in the past 32years.

In a reaction the Government Delegate to the Bamenda City Council Ndumu Vincent Nji said he has been talking to Ayaba authorities yet no concrete action.

The Councilors ended the issue by mandating the Government Delegate to file a law suit against Ayaba with the hope to get the hotel pay the profits in arrears or pay the value of FCFA 27million in today's economy noting that the issue was raised about 33years ago.

Talking to the press after the meeting, the Government Delegate clearly started that the city council had the right to one percent of the profits from the hotel. "It is easy to understand the frustrations of the City Councilors who are worried over the issue...... I have been mandated to continue talks with Ayaba hotel and if it is not fruitful I will continue with legal action."
