Announcing the arrival of Northwest Governor at the Bamenda
Commercial avenue grand stand was stylish lady on her escort. The dexterity and
ease with which she rode the bike attracted everyone. The ceremonial ground
went into great hysteria when it was noticed that the rider was a woman. Next
was the traffic control vehicle that came in on very high speed again it was a
woman on the stirring. Discussion about these two women stayed on for long even
when other activities went on.
Dressed in their traditional sky blue and blue-black shirts
and trousers respectively, the female police officers welcomed the regional
chief with some special fanfare and style. Throughout the event in Bamenda,
particularly the police lady with the power bike distracted many as she from
time to time accelerated her bike in a stylish manner. The march pass was
another moment for the women to steal the show as some of them passed on bicycles.
The many who showed up for the event in Bamenda will remember
these ladies for some time particularly for their demonstrated love for bike
riding which has been an exclusive
preserve for men in most parts of the country. Hopefully some women will be
appointed to the service in the days ahead.
