The Northwest Region has donated 80millions francs and counting  for the fight against Boko Haram. The donations made March 22, 2015 at the Bamenda Congress Hall is expected to be channeled by Northwest Governor  Adolph Lele L'afrique to the Minister of Defense for eventual transmission to the soldiers currently battling with the group. Prior to the donations, an ecuminical prayer session took place during which Muslims and Christians prayed for stability, peace and unity in Cameroon. Madam Regina Mundi CPDM Political bureau  member of the CPDM in one of the speeches invited her fellow women to give and pray hard for the displaced families and young widows suffering as a result of the insurgency.

Prime Minister Philemon Yang on his part declared that Cameroonians should not fear because Boko Haram will soon be a thing of the pass. He made many present to smile when he noted that it is always a good feeling being in Bamenda "a city of the future." Yang got a stronger applause when he described Bamenda people as a lucky people because before any decision is taken in Cameroon, Bamenda's position must be heard by the hierarchy.

CPDM or Northwest donations?
Initially planned to be apolitical, the Bamenda event turned out to be another event of the Cameroons People Democratic Movement CPDM as even the Prime Minister Philemon Yang and wife showed up in party uniforms. Madam Regina Mundi CPDM Political bureau  member of the CPDM even described the meeting as the 30th anniversary of the CPDM.  However, though many politically focused people left the event ground angrily without donating, many others even the opposition stayed on to donate.

Outstanding Contributions

Amongst the many who showed up was a man whose only name we got as Mr Tamia but he is the mortuary attendant to the Bamenda Regional Hospital. In all humility he handed over 7000 FCFA as his contribution in the fight against Boko Haram.  The representatives of  Alhaji Dan Polo an entrepreneur handed over 15 million francs. The Paramount Fon of Nkwen received a an uncommon ovation from his subjects who showed up for the event in hundreds as he donated 200000 FCFA. Musa Shey Nfor a teacher by profession donated  200000 FCFA as well. The Belo Council represented by Mayor Tosam Bernard of the SDF handed over 100000 FCFA while his neigbor the Njinikom Council still SDF donated 200000 FCFA. We cannot name all but what we are sure of is the fact that many gave generously while many others simply gave a drop from their mighty oceans just to please the watching Prime Minister and other government officials..

Shocking Donations
Former Prime Minister was Present
We will like to describe some of the contributions as shocking looking at the issue at hand. The talk is about supporting the Army in the fight against Boko Haram. What we understand is if there is no peace there will no office or even people to boss. In fact we will not go there but lets note that it is preposterous to hear that the Mayor on whose territory the event took place showed up with 10000 FCFA while his colleagues from far off places came with hundreds of thousands. Many who reacted on the donation suggest that he would have preferably been absent like others because his donation did not only look embarrassing but provocative and insulting to the organisers, the Cameroonian army and the government.
Some local administrators were another embarrassment at the event with Mezam DOs contributing 50,000 FCFA as their support. It is no news to any one that some of these Sub-divisional officers have transformed their jurisdiction to money cultivating farms either from land problems or events attendance.
