PCC announces August 14 Service in Bamenda to honour late Moderator Dr. Festus Asana

The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon (PCC) has announced that a thanksgiving and memorial service for its former Moderator, the Very Rev. Dr. Festus Ambe Asana, will be held in Ntamulung, Bamenda, on August 14, 2026, as part of the final funeral programme in Cameroon.

The announcement follows the conclusion of a two-day celebration of the late church leader's life organised by the PCC Christian community in the United States. The programme took place from Friday, July 17 to Saturday, July 18, bringing together PCC faithful and well-wishers from several states.

Dr. Asana Festus, the fifth Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, passed away on June 22, 2026, in Orlando, Florida, after decades of dedicated ministry that saw him serve as Dean of the Presbyterian Theological College, Synod Clerk and later Moderator of the Church from 2010 to 2014.

According to PCC TV, the first day of the funeral programme in Orlando took on a cultural character, with tributes and eulogies celebrating the life and ministry of the late servant of God. Friends, relatives and members of the Presbyterian community reflected on his contribution to the growth of the Church and his enduring Christian witness.

The funeral service on Saturday was led by a College of Clergy under the leadership of Rev. Ghislain Ebai, Coordinator of the PCC USA Diaspora. Throughout the service, speakers remembered Dr. Festus Asana as a meek, faithful and devoted servant of God, as well as a loving husband and father whose life exemplified Christian service.

A touching moment during the service came when his widow, Mama Jennie Asana, offered words of encouragement and hope to mourners despite the family's loss.

With the United States funeral rites concluded, the celebration of the life of Dr. Festus Asana will now continue in Cameroon. The PCC has scheduled a service in Buea on August 12 before a second service in Ntamulung, Bamenda, on August 14.

The Ntamulung service will provide members of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon and the wider Christian community another opportunity to celebrate the life and ministry of a church leader whose service spanned several decades.

Very Rev. Dr. Festus Ambe Asana is remembered for his commitment to theological education, pastoral ministry and the growth of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. He is survived by his wife, Ma Jennie Asana, their children and grandchildren.
