Bloggers to champion change in Cameroon

It was an eye opening workshop for some Cameroonian bloggers and aspiring bloggers February, 27 and 28, 2015 in Bamenda, Northwest Region of Cameroon. Organised by a Bamenda based non-governmental Organisation; Action Foundation Community Initiative Group #AFCIG, the workshop was aimed at building the capacities of bloggers on how to run effective blogs that promote good governance.
Issues discussed
Amongst the facilitator were two University lecturers Prof Victor Van W. and Hon. Joseph Kwi as well as a community management expert Chedjou Kamdem. While Professor Victor Van R. provided insides on Social Media landscape, intro to blogs, Bloggers Ethics and Search Engine Optimisation, Hon Joseph Kwi handled governance in Cameroon.
Chedjou Kamdem on his part cautioned the bloggers to watch out for their reputations while respecting basic journalistic ethics in writing for the web in two separate presentations titled E-Reputation and Writing for the Web.
 Participants Reaction
While noting that it was a good workshop, Nchanji Melvin one of the bloggers Bamenda hilltop infos spoke to observed that Professor Victor’s presentations highlighted some of his weaknesses. This plus Hon Joseph Kwi’s presentation, he added, will assist him better understand how to handle his blog posts.
Conclusion
Ngasa Wise #AFCIG’s Director, speaking during his opening remarks opined that he expects the bloggers to  use their blogs to champion change in Cameroon. The big question now is, will they be able to champion change in a close country like Cameroon?
