Fon of Nso sets Royal Peace Mission to Noun Division

The Paramount Fon of Nso, His Majesty Fon Sehm Mbinglo I, is scheduled to undertake a Royal Peace Mission to the Noun Division of the West Region on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with the main community dialogue taking place at Ngay Nso in Koutaba.

The mission is expected to bring together Nso leadership groups and community representatives in the Noun as part of efforts to strengthen dialogue, reconciliation and unity among the Nso community in the Division.

The programme will feature audiences with Nso leadership groups, the presentation of a Community Statement by the Nso Cultural and Development Association (NSODA), and the presentation of a Royal Peace and Reconciliation Gift.

The Paramount Fon is also expected to deliver a Royal Message to the Nso community during the gathering.

The planned mission follows a preparatory visit by a royal delegation to the Bamoun Palace in Foumban last weekend, according to DE LAVMFU an online platform close to the throne of Nso.

The delegation comprised the President of Bihnso' Bafoussam, Shuùfaáy Nsam, and Shuùfaáy Kibeey ke Noun. The visit to the Bamoun Palace formed part of preparations ahead of the Paramount Fon's community dialogue with Nso in the Noun Division.

The choice of Koutaba for the dialogue places the mission within a community that has become an important home for Nso people living in the Noun Division considering the ancestral history both communities share. The engagement is expected to provide an opportunity for Nso leadership structures and community members to discuss issues affecting their collective life while receiving guidance from the Paramount Fon.

The mission comes at a time when traditional leadership has placed renewed emphasis on dialogue and reconciliation. The Paramount Fon recently launched The Fon of Nso and the Anglophone Crisis: A Testimony for Reconciliation and Peace, a publication centred on his experiences during the crisis and his call for truth, forgiveness and peaceful coexistence.

The planned Koutaba dialogue will therefore provide another setting for that message to reach the Nso community outside the North West Region.

The programme is expected to conclude with the delivery of the Royal Message and the formal presentation of the peace and reconciliation gift, reinforcing the stated objective of the mission: bringing the community together through dialogue and strengthening bonds among Nso people in the Noun Division.
