Environment: Thousands petition government for policy on Women’s rights

By Bakah Derick  A petition with over 2500 signatures from grassroots women on policy consideration and support in the promotion of women’s socio-economic and environmental rights has been handed to government in Bamenda.  The petition coordinated by the Cameroon Gender and Environment Watch (CAMGEW) was handed to the North West Regional Delegate for Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development on Tuesday 12 July 2022 in Bamenda.  The Regional Delegate, Mue Denis Kpue received the petition from the Director Wirsiy Emmanuel Binyuy and Sevidzem Ernestine Leikeli Women Empowerment and Environment officer all from CAMGEW at his up station office with the hope of it reaching Yaounde soonest.  Speaking prior to handing over the petition, the Director of CAMGEW stated that the petition is a result of other activities and a “round table discussions that CAMGEW have held in Bamenda since January 2022 to promote women inclusion in social, environmental and economic d

Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union: New Executive meets Labour Minister

Bible Translation: Fon Angafor III receives Gospel of Luke in Bambui language

At the reception of the land mark translation on Thursday 30 June 2022, His Royal Majesty Fon AGAFOR III called on his kindred to do everything possible to maintain the Bambui Language.  His Royal Highness Fon AGAFOR III FON of Bambui receiving a copy of the translated version of the book of Luke While being thankful to the Almighty God for the landmark achievement, the Monarch stressed that by translating the Book of Luke into the language of birth of the people of Bambui, God has been brought closer to the people of his Fondom. “We cannot do anything even developmental without our God taking the lead. Polio Vaccination: Second Round National Campaign kicks off in Bamenda

By Bakah Derick  Community mobilisers have been spotted administering the polio vaccine in Bamenda III Subdivision. Sickle Cell Disease: patients recommend testing to curb spread

By Rose Afanwi  Persons living with sickle cell in the North West Region of Cameroon have continued to advise  the population to always carry out their electrophoresis test, which will determine their health status as Carriers or not before engaging in to any relationship or union that may result in child birth.  The call comes as recent statistics from the North West sickle cell Organisation discloses that many more children are born as carriers and the increasing trend may result to higher rate of sicklers in the region if the situation is not managed. Sickle cell disease medics say is an inherited disorder,  that causes the body to make stiff, sickle-shaped red blood cells.
