World Press Freedom Day 2022: CJTU NW valorise 'Kola Coffee '

Economy: NWCA-Kola Coffee shop Mile 2 Nkwen goes operational

By Bakah Derick  The North West Cooperative Association (NWCA) has opened a new coffee shop at the Mile 2 neighbourhood in Nkwen. The new shop where the company will serve Kola Coffee is located at Amour Mezam opposite PMI Nkwen.  Workers display Kola Coffee  The opening of the shop was marked by free tasting which has permitted many to taste Kola Coffee; a majority for the very first time.  "I am a lover of Coffee and so I drink a lot. I can assure you that Kola Coffee taste unique. It is just the best. I usually leave from here to the shop at the commercial avenue to drink or buy.  I am buying one packet now but I am certain I will come back for more. I am happy that a shop is here now. I want to congratulate the management of Kola Coffee for bringing this shop here." Sports Promotion: Bamenda III Veteran football tournament launched

By Bakah Derick  A veterant football tournament has kicked off in Bamenda III Subdivision. The official launch of the tournament took place on Saturday 7 May 2022 at the renovated Niboung government school field in Nkwen.  Bamenda III Veteran tournament launching fixture  Speaking during the launching of the maiden edition of the tournament, the Mayor of the Bamenda III Council explained that the decision to organise the football competition is to promote the sporting culture in the municipality especially for those aged above 40years. Fongu Cletus Tanwe noted that this will go a long way to keep them healthy by preventing many diseases that come with aging.  He has praised the 13 registered teams for adhering to this maiden call. Local Development: Bamenda III Council to complete tarring of feeder road to new road from upstation

By Bakah Derick  The Mayor of the Bamenda III Council has announced plans to complete  the tarring of the mile four-New road stretch passing through the Council premises. Fongu Cletus Tanwe made the announcement on Wednesday 4 May 2022 during the administrative and management accounts session of his Council. Road to be completed from the Council premises  Accoridng to the municipal leader, the tarring of the road from Mile four to the Council premises shall decongest the main roads in the municipality and be of better service to his people if it is linked with the new-road from upstation. The Mayor disclosed that all is set for the works to begin including the construction of  culverts to ensure an appropriate drainage system along the road.  The announcement which came almost at the end of the session received an uncommon reception with the councilors who hitherto had been tough in the examination of the mayor's administrative and management accounts for 2021. 

World Press Freedom Day 2022: CJTU strikes healthcare deal with Unite For Health Foundation

By Bakah Derick  The Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union (CJTU) North West chapter has reached an understanding with the Yaounde based not-for-profit health facility; Unite For Health Foundation.  CJTU North West Chapter President acknowledging Unite For Health Foundation and other partners.  The information was made public on Tuesday 3 May 2022 in Bamenda by the President of the trade union Nji Ignatius. While acknowledging institutions and individuals that accompanied his Union during World Press Freedom Day activities, the President announced a significant  insurance-like deal reached with Unite For Health Foundation.  "All your members can have 15% discount for all services at our clinic. Waste Management: Bamenda turns filthy as contract of cleaning company expires

By Bakah Derick  The collection of waste in the city of Bamenda has been halted for some time now resulting to huge dump sites in the town. World Press Freedom Day 2022: Journalists' Trade Union Observance in Pictures

The Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union joined the world on Tuesday 3 May 2022 to observe the 31st edition of World Press Freedom Day. The three phase observance featured  a visit to the North West Cooperative Association (NWCA), Reading of Messages from structures around the world like the UN, UNESCO, International Federation of Journalists and the union's National Bureau and presentations from experts on issues related to the theme and violent extremism.  World Press Freedom Day event by the Cameroon Journalists' Trade Union (CJTU) North West chapter  Activities took place with the theme "Journalism under Digital Siege."
