PWD Bamenda: Where is the team's community bus, cup of Cameroon ambition?

By Bakah Derick  March 19, 2021 remains a historic day in the life of PWD social football club of Bamenda. This day on their way to Yaounde for a league fixture against Dragon of Yaounde, the team's 30 seater bus went up in flames before the very eyes of helpless players, technical staff and team administrators.  The cause of the fire is not known till date. The team will then be given several days with matches postponed to recover from the sad incident as transportation was now a daunting task.  PWD Bamenda  As if North West elite were waiting for the incident, contributions which we gathered were spearheaded by the Minister Delegate at the Ministry of external relations in charge of the Commonwealth Felix Mbayu were immediately launched. Before Saturday 20 March 2021 could end, over 40million Francs CFA had been raised. In less than a week, over 50 million was reported. AFCON 2021: Battle for Religious legitimacy hit peak as Senegal heads to final

By Bakah Derick  The video of an unidentified Speaker said to be a Christian Pastor predicting the winner of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cameroon 2021 has gone viral. The man who predicts that an Arab African Country will win the tournament contradicts a witch doctor who had earlier predicted Senegal as winner. Though others had made predictions, these two have remained relevant as the potential winners according to their positions are still on course as the contest narrows down to three.  The man who predicted an Arab African Country as winner described by some news sites as a prophet and identifying him as a Nigerian  that the Nations Cup will be lifted by an Arab African country. And on the day of the finals, the player that shall fetch the cup for them shall be player number 10. He also said he had seen another player with Jersey number 22.  Photo by Cameroon Tribune  Commenting about the host nation Cameoon, the prophet said Caneroon will play

AFCON 2021: Senegal's Journey to the Semi-finals

By Bakah Derick The 2019 runners-up of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt were undoubtedly no small quantity in the 2021 rendez-vous in Cameroon. With a football world class player like Sadio Mané, it was certainly misplaced wisdom trying to ignore the Teranga Lions.  During their opening fixture against Zimbabwe, many expected an overbearing win for the Senegalese who rather elected for a humbling 1-0 win from the penalty spot in additional time.  It is obviously the high rating of the Lions that turned their second opponent;  The Republic of Guinea to a huge giant. Finishing 1-1 with the Guineans started casting doubts on Sadio Mané and his group's capacity to go beyond the group stages.  As if to demonstrate maturity, the Teranga Lions did just the essentials settling for a draw against the Flames of Malawi. The nil-nil tie was good enough to take them to the round of 16 with five points.  Facing best looser Cape Verde from group A didn't look

AFCON 2021: Burkina Faso's journey to the Semi-finals

By Bakah Derick After missing the tournament in the land of Pyramids Egypt 2019 though finishing third in Gabon 2017, the Stallions of Burkina Faso didn't look a promising side for the Semi-finals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Cameroon 2021.  Their 2-1 defeat against host Cameroon on Sunday 9 January 2022 at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde only confirmed the doubts of many that they may not be a side to stake on. Finishing with a 1-0 win against Cape Verde on January 13 still didn't say much mindful of their opponent's  less convincing records in the tournament. Settling for an essential 1-1 draw on the last group stage match against Ethiopia only confirmed their regularity in passing the group stages of recent AFCON participation.   Against a determined and ambitious Gabonese side in the round of 16, the Stallions showed class and finished winners with a 7-6 win after shootouts following a 1-1 draw at full-time.  They took charge of the
