Bamenda Showbiz: Hilltopvoices talks to Zita Light on release of New music video "Kwebere"

Bamenda based gospel music artist,  song writer, singer and dancer  Zita Light has released another mind blowing music video. The journalist turned artist released the video featuring another singer Flavy Praise on June 30, 2021 as part of a project which she has christened The Change Project. In a chat with Hilltopvoices editor Bakah Derick, Zita Light speaks about her motivation, evaluates the work done in the production process  and her choice of language. Catholicism: Eight out of 25 deacons from Mamfe ordained in Bamenda

Cameroon Armed Conflict: CBM funds emergency response projects

By Bakah Derick  The Christian International development organisation Christian Blind Mission CBM Cameroon and the Central African Republic has announced the funding of two emergency projects in the North West Region to attend to needs generated by the current armed conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic for the next two years.  The announcement was made on Saturday June 26, 2021 by the Country Director CBM International Country office in Cameroon Julius Niba Fon during the launching of the two projects being the Disability inclusive humanitarian Action (DIHA) and the Inclusive Eye Health (IEH) in the Context of COVID-19.  "It is our aspiration that our environment evolves to be enabling: for the disability movement to grow and become veritable voice for inclusion and agents of disability inclusive development, for the design and implementation of long term comprehensive and inclusive eye health programmes through an eye health district approach and for decentralised local governance

The Director of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) Health Services is pleased to inform disability, health stakeholders, and the general public that on June 24, 2021, the CBC Health Services together with the Ministry of Social Affairs (MINAS), some State Universities and institutions of higher learning, and its Dutch-based partner AFAS Foundation through the Liliane Fonds (LF), will be launching a new project known as “Rehabilitation Compass for Inclusion (RCI)”.   This project is aimed at increasing the number of trained Physiotherapists (PT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Field Workers in Cameroon.   The Rehabilitation Compass for Inclusion Project was designed in 2019 based on a survey that revealed that many children in Cameroon who need timely and quality Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and CBR services cannot have it due to limited trained personnel. Children with Disabilities: CBC health services supports over 700 in the West Region

Cameroon Armed Conflict: At least seven killed as Army ends another "cleansing" mission in Bui

By Bakah Derick with field reports from Kumbo The  Cameroon Army has confirmed the killing of at least seven persons as they end another mission in Bui Division. The mission christened "Operation Kumbo Clean" according to top military officials is aimed at cleaning the area of nonstate armed groups. Speaking in Kumbo headquarters  Bui  Division on Tuesday 15 June, 2021, the operations lead Colonel Matiang Charles disclosed that for slightly over 30days that the mission lasted, seven persons died.             Photo by www.mnews237.com  Three which he called Generals killed by the army and four soldiers killed by nonstate armed fighters. He named the three Generals as Thunder in Kikaikom, Abakwa in Meluf and Spider. No names were mentioned for the killed soldiers. Cameroon Cup 2021: PWD at 8th Finals

Cameroon Special Status regions: Tamfu Simon Fai appointed Conciliator for NW

Cameroon Armed Conflict: Bike rider dies from gun wounds in Nkwen

By Nfor Nkfu A commercial motorcycle rider in Bamenda has died after he was shot by unidentified gunmen. Reports say Shey Beltus died on the night  Sunday May 30, 2021 at  S.bend  Nkwen near Foncha Junction. Witnesses say gunmen on board a white hilux shot at Beltus after they hit his bike and they started exchanging words.  "We heard the sound of the gun and after the peoplein the hilux left we rushed there only to see a bullet wound on his head." The witness narrated Shey Beltus was rushed to a nearby health facility but it was too late. He had died.  He has been identified as a commercial motorcycle rider in Bamenda.  The deceased was a native of Tabenken of the Wimbum tribe in Donga Mantung.

Cameroon Armed Conflict: Traders caught between Gov't , separatist standoff in Ndop

By Nfor Nkfu Traders in Ndop, headquarters of Ngoketunja division of the North West region have been lamenting following the destruction of their market items by alleged government soldiers . In a viral amateur video that emerged Wednesday May 12th, armed men in military fatigue are seen scattering and destroying goods displayed near the road by traders. "No no no this is bad, this is dangerous. My things are all destroyed" a trader is overhead lamenting in the video. No reason was advanced at the seen for such an act. However, underground sources say, local authorities of Ndop carried out the act in a bid to force traders return to the market and continue doing business there. The source adds that Separatist Fighters in the area had sealed Ndop market three months ago warning bitterly against anyone who violate the other.
