Cameroon Armed Conflict: Bike rider dies from gun wounds in Nkwen

By Nfor Nkfu A commercial motorcycle rider in Bamenda has died after he was shot by unidentified gunmen. Reports say Shey Beltus died on the night  Sunday May 30, 2021 at  S.bend  Nkwen near Foncha Junction. Witnesses say gunmen on board a white hilux shot at Beltus after they hit his bike and they started exchanging words.  "We heard the sound of the gun and after the peoplein the hilux left we rushed there only to see a bullet wound on his head." The witness narrated Shey Beltus was rushed to a nearby health facility but it was too late. He had died.  He has been identified as a commercial motorcycle rider in Bamenda.  The deceased was a native of Tabenken of the Wimbum tribe in Donga Mantung.

Cameroon Armed Conflict: NW regional assembly to meet at last

By Nfor Nkfu The North West Regional House of Assembly has been convened for an extraordinary session to hold in Bamenda from June 1st to June 3rd 2021.  Prof Fru Angwafor Going by a release signed by the  Regional Executive Council President  Prof Fru Angwafor, all members of the House of Divisional Representatives, House of Chiefs and Members of parliament from the region are expected to attend the opening session on June 1st at Assmbly's building. Though the agenda of the session has not been disclosed, discussions to run  for three days are likely to centre on the budget of the region which will empower the council to begin work. No developmental activity has so been carried out by the decentralised body since being installed into office on January 23, 2021 for lack of budget. Cameroon Armed Conflict: Traders caught between Gov't , separatist standoff in Ndop

By Nfor Nkfu Traders in Ndop, headquarters of Ngoketunja division of the North West region have been lamenting following the destruction of their market items by alleged government soldiers . In a viral amateur video that emerged Wednesday May 12th, armed men in military fatigue are seen scattering and destroying goods displayed near the road by traders. "No no no this is bad, this is dangerous. My things are all destroyed" a trader is overhead lamenting in the video. No reason was advanced at the seen for such an act. However, underground sources say, local authorities of Ndop carried out the act in a bid to force traders return to the market and continue doing business there. The source adds that Separatist Fighters in the area had sealed Ndop market three months ago warning bitterly against anyone who violate the other.
