Nkwen Fondom: Fon Azehfor III receives warm welcome, graduates many to 'adulthood' in Yaoundé

By Bakah Derick  Nkwenbere: a book on the culture, customs and tradition of the Nkwen people will be presented in the Yaoundé this Saturday 6 August 2022. The presentation will done on the sidelines of the ongoing maiden official royal visit of HRH Fon Azehfor III of Nkwen to his community in Yaoundé.  Copies of Nkwenbere displayed during the launch in Nkwen in July 22, 2022 The book presentation to take place at the Nkwen Cultural and Development Association hall in the Damas neighbourhood will be the second public presentation after publication. Nkwen Fondom: Fon Azehfor III on Royal visit to Yaoundé this Saturday

By Bakah Derick  The Fon of Nkwen has been announced for Yaoundé this Saturday 6 August 2022. According to a document which www.hilltopvoices.com stumbled on, HRH Fon Azehfor III will be received in the nation's capital by Nkwen Son's and Daughters under the canopy of the Nkwen Cultural and Development Association (NCDA).  According to the document, the major high point of the visit will be the meeting of the Nkwen People in Yaoundé and installation of Quarter Heads. Culture: History of the Nkwen People Documented in "Nkwenberee"

By Bakah Derick  News of the documentation of the history of Nkwen people in Mezam Division North West Region of Cameroon is already making rounds in the Fondom. According to sources close to the Nkwen Palace, a Book authored by the Second Adviser to the Fon of Nkwen Muma Azeh is expected to see the light of day before the month of July 2022 runs out. The Book according to the author traces the routes of the Nkwen people to pre-colonial times.  “Since the existence of Bafreng (German appellation for Nkwen), its history has remained largely Oral than Written. Efforts to assemble facts about the village met with little success as contrary views were presented by the interviewees. Bible Translation: Fon Angafor III receives Gospel of Luke in Bambui language

By Shey Godbless   The Fon of Bambui Village of Tubah Subdivision in Mezam Division has received the recently translated biblical book of Luke to the language of his people. At the reception of the land mark translation on Thursday 30 June 2022, His Royal Majesty Fon AGAFOR III called on his kindred to do everything possible to maintain the Bambui Language.  His Royal Highness Fon AGAFOR III FON of Bambui receiving a copy of the translated version of the book of Luke While being thankful to the Almighty God for the landmark achievement, the Monarch stressed that by translating the Book of Luke into the language of birth of the people of Bambui, God has been brought closer to the people of his Fondom. “We cannot do anything even developmental without our God taking the lead. So translation of the book of Luke is already Gods power working in this people and being manifested in the language. This is bringing God closer to the people. That is my greatest joy,” he quipped.

Save the Crown: Mankon Kwifo suspends death celebrations

By Bakah Derick  The Supreme masquerade of the Mankon people has suspended all death celebrations in the village. The decision was made public on Saturday 11 June 2022 by the Secretary General of the the Mankon Traditional Council Ntomnifor Richard.  "All death celebrations in Mankon are suspended till after the upcoming Nikwi.  Implicitly, if a person dies in Mankon, he or she is buried without any form of celebration." The message reads  The dreaded Kwifo has charged quarter and clan heads to ensure implementation across Mankon.  " All Mankon Quarter Heads and Clan Heads are called upon to oversee the strict implementation of this decision in their respective quarters and clans.  Kwifo shall duly inform the  population whenever the suspension is lifted." Amongst the many who were present at the Mankon Fon's Palace to witness the coronation of their new ruler on Tuesday 7 June was internationally recognised raggae artist Ankias Valleyman. With various designs, the cap complemented the traditional outfit of mostly the men. While some wore their caps for fun, others did with respect to their traditional titles, positions and authority.  "A cap is an important part of the traditional dressing of the man in the grasdfield generally. By Bakah Derick  For the past seven days, the people of Mankon in Bamenda have been mourning the passing on of their Fon following an order by the highest masquerade in Mankon; the Kwifo. According to the order by the Kwifo, no farming or digging related activities were to take place in Mankon during the decreed period of mourning being May 30 to June 5, 2022.
