Bamenda City Councilors indict NW Senators for lack of accountability.

By Bakah Derick Councilors of the Bamenda City Council have indicted Senators of the NW region and Mezam in particular for lack of accountability since assumption of office. Speaking at the Bamenda City board meeting Tuesday April 25, 2017 intended to discuss the management accounts of the Government Delegate, the councilors wandered why the senators have not been on the field to execute projects with the grants they collect from the assembly. According to Councilor Kaba Charles, if the Senators do not consider being accountable to the people, they should at least be to them (Councilors) who voted. He questioned rhetorically what they are doing with the grants which he assumed to be double that of Parliamentarians who rather seen more on the field.   The government delegate in handling the issue proposed that the Senators should be properly served invitation for sessions even for Sub Divisional Council session. NW Bits Farewell to Another Anti Boko Haram Hero The earth has once again swallowed another soldier fallen in the anti Boko haram warfront in the far North region of Cameroon. Marechal de logis Monjang Jerome Mbelli from Batibo subdivision in the North West region was given last honours at the Bamenda up station Army Headquarters by the regional governor Adolph Lele L’Afrique Saturday April 22, 2017. The 23year old soldier who met death while in service in Kolofata according to Major Issa who read details at the last honours event died after a brutal suicide attack on their car while they were returning from shopping on the 19, April, 2017. UNHRCD to stage World Press Freedom Day event in Limbe The United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa in partnership with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO will on the 3 rd of May, 2017 organise a round table conference in Limbe South West Region. The event to assemble invited English Speaking Journalists in Limbe will take place with the theme: Freedom of information, the right to know. Amongst the speakers will be Jean Roland Onana of UNESCO who is expected to present a paper on the theme of the 2017 World Press Freedom Day and the Situation of journalists around the world and Fonyuy Kiven T. Frankline on Freedom of information, the right to know.
